• what are the growth businesses. Private security? A sign that the state is not capable of making people feel comfortable.
• The cellular phone industry has been a huge success in some of the toughest places in earth.
• Somalia is where mad max now lives. Has the highest use of cell phones on earth. Used by everyone. the lifeline, the banking system, its model for how it charges customers as the leading indicator for how to work in difficult cases.

2. There is a peace dividend and it is real Once fighting stops there is an immediate growth in business.

3. Business must do more.

• The nature of conflict and the exploitation of people must be addressed by business community.

In the aftermath of Genocide you must restructure societies systems are set. You can’t go back to busienss as usual. You must reorder society…to promote and support reconciliation

Have to be building blocks to world peace - the infrastructure for reconciliation

1. Justice and Accountability

• The way in which we judge these atrocities we must address the need for consistent means with which we address issues.
• Truth and Reconciliation Commissions

2. Use Commisions - the divide and rule. Use Development assistance

3. DDR - Need to eliminate the armed elements a

4. Security sector reform - need to create new cops

5. Peace deals themselves need to be effective - a real investment in power sharing

Reputation is what the world thinks of us, character is what God thinks of us. The constitution, bil of rights, declaration are all examples of the light. They act to overcome the darkness of our self interest. this darkness never dies it just waits and we must work hard to keep it doumant and we do not teach those ideas to our young.

the united states is a nation of meaning and is fast becoming a nation……

an that nation is fast becoming known fro blood letting and selfishness becuause we dont teach those tools for civic expertise that all sovereigns were trained to do. we are the only system of governance and the only sovereign without a tutor….

the most complex of systems is democracy because it requires the involvement of an informed citizenry….and we teach our people less and less everyday of all hose tools that are neccessary. we must always be teaching with rigor and pleasure they wil not expist

we are not prepared, we are not preparing our children….we dont teach them democracy, we dont even teach them domestic skills

less foundation to stand on and people do bad things because they do not know the foundation of the things we stand on

we need american kids who understand their own system. we can’t have willfull ignorant children. too certain to understand the wisdom of uncertainty…..we need adults in office.

politics teaches man how to lve with man, the secular arm of faith.

we must forgive them, whomever they are…we have all sinned and we know that because it is called reconciliation. for every sinned committed against our blood we commit sin back. must stop that cycle and learn that forgiveness is not a word of faith…it is practical politics

What should US/Russia do?

There is an opportunity to return russia/us to beneficial relationship. The dialogue to top leaders needs to continue. in the media, the political scene and in civil society the opinion of good relations needs to continue.
